🏆 Racing World:
Nedbank Gravel Burn: cows, champagne gravel and early leaders
The inaugural Nedbank Gravel Burn (26 Oct – 1 Nov 2025) lit up South Africa’s gravel scene. Stage 2 from Avontuur to Willowmore produced champagne gravel, a brutal “Shallot” climb and some unexpected obstacles: a herd of cows! Matt Beers (Specialized Off‑Road Toyota) powered away on the climb and won the stage, holding a one‑minute general classification lead after two days. Swiss rider Lukas Baum and Switzerland’s Simon Pellaud rounded out the stage podium, while South Africans Hugo Drechou and Tristan Nortje sat fourth and fifth on GC. The women’s race saw France’s Axelle Dubau‑Prévot double up with another stage win, edging American Melisa Rollins and compatriot Haley Smith. Dubau‑Prévot led the women’s GC by 13 seconds over Ashleigh Moolman‑Pasio, with Rollins and local favourite Hayley Preen also in the mix. With cows roaming the course and champagne gravel under‑tire, it set the tone for a wild week.
